Outline
In order to utilize your training at Kenmore Air as efficiently as possible, we recommend familiarizing yourself with the basic concepts of float flying prior to arriving at Kenmore Air. Seaplane training books are available at most pilot shops. The following is a list of recommended study materials:
· Gleim's Online Seaplane Rating Add-on Course (Highly Recommended)
· Edo’s “How to Fly Floats” – Available for purchase online.
· FAA-H-8083-23 Seaplane Operations Handbook – Available for FREE online.
During the first lesson of the Single-Engine Seaplane rating package, you will receive a copy of Edo’s “How to Fly Floats” and a Flight Training Reference Packet specific to Kenmore Air’s aircraft and operating procedures. This packet includes all of the information you will need regarding operating policies, aircraft systems and procedures, local traffic flow, and maneuver profiles.
Purchase of a pilots operating handbook is not necessary for training, though the PA-18 handbook is available from UNIVAIR.
